The number one fastest growing economy , one of the top wealthiest country in the world, Qatar is this tiny jewel in the Middle East that only ten years ago became internationally famous for the amazing discovery of almost endless natural gas resources. Today Qatar and the capital Doha are a booming reality , a frenetic construnctions sight , a mirage to consumism in the middle of 105 degrees desert . The visonary and illuminate sheick Al Thani wants to make of Doha the cultural city of the Middle East , so he hired the famous chinese architect Pei ( you might know him for the glass piramid of the Louvre ) and built the magnificent Museum of Islamic Art : a temple in honor of the Islamic culture in four continents and a legacy of amazing articratfs.
Doha is a contrast of architectures in a jungle of souks and skyscrapers. It's very fascinating. The Qataris are extremely elegant and sophisticated in their white robes. They wear this amazing amber scent that makes the air so warm and intoxicating. I had a wonderful time in this city . During my stay in Doha I preferred the new W Hotel.I'm on m way back to New York.
