On my way back to New York I had an overnight stop in Madrid which made me very happy not only because I had dinner with the newlyweds Francesco and Damien , but also I had the opportunity to see the new retrospective at the Prado Museum of Valencian impressionist Joaquin Sorolla.
The dinner in Chueca with the boys was very nice : we talked about the wedding, reactions and comments from the community and they also shared their new projects for the studios. We ended the night in their apartment where open windows over a warm but breezy night in Madrid made me remember of my summer nights in Rome. The atmosphere was hot also because Pedro was lounging around..wearing only a pair of cargo shorts ! He is so sexy ! Sue , you would have died !

The exibition of Joaquin Sorolla is journey into the sophisticated virtuosismo of an extraordinary talented painter who used the light as no other in the Spanish Impressionism. The elegance of his subjects capture photographic moments of summers in Valencia.I'm enchanted ..

I want to dedicate this post to my dearest friend Carmine who first introduced me to Joaquin Sorolla when he sent me a postcard of the painting below. The meaning of a profound friendship is that special sensibility that makes real friends want to share special beautiful things when we see them...it's a magical connection..thank you Carmine for being in my life...

If you happen to pass by Madrid don't miss this exibition : at the Prado Museum until September 6th, 2009.

I am so jealous! OMG!
What beautiful paintings. I've never heard of Sorolla; I'll have to investigate his work more.
I'm also envious of your night in Madrid with the boys. I'm picturing Pedro now (sans shorts, though)
The last time I visited the Prado Museum was in - dare I say - 1976. I think I was in a baby carriage, but I do remember how excited I was to tour the Prado.
I`m with Sue.I`m jealous because of the dinner with the boys and the exhibition.
